Yeah, I think the only reason I beat him was because I was over-powered from leveling up with runes in one of the farming spots, but it still took dozens of tries, because when he hits, he hits HARD.

Those first few attacks, from a distance, are all about perfectly timing your roll. If you have a heavy load, you'll never make it out alive. At medium, you've got just a few frames. But once he starts shooting a massive barrage of arrows, you're in for an even worse time. Just a brutal boss. Once I was close enough, I could hop on Torrent and slice at the guy, but even then, he does some spin attacks that can take Torrent out for good unless you're willing to use your HP potion to bring him back.

Agreed that Leyndell is one of the more strikingly impressive locations. I still have to go back and beat Morgott so I can move on past that location.

For those who finished the Academy and don't know where to go next, I think it depends on if you have two halves of a certain medallion. If you do,
Spoiler:
you want to go to the Main Academy Gate and touch the blue mirage going toward the bridge going north. That'll transport you across the gap in the bridge. on your way to the Grand Lift. I'm not sure which way to go if you don't have those medallions though.

After all these hours in this game, I'm still primarily using my samurai outfit and sword, but I've leveled up the sword to like +14. The game doesn't really tell you this, but it's pretty critical to either get the first two bell bearings to make it possible to purchase more smithing stones in order to upgrade your weapons, OR go grind in the mines to get them. Some of them have a lot to find.

I think someone else asked about the Sewing Needle. There's a quest regarding that involving an NPC named Bok very early in the game.

Sword Of Night And Flame is my new favorite weapon. Can't believe it took me this long to find out about it. It does some amazing damage. I've been able to two- three shot bosses with it.

Question for you guys because I never really understood this stuff in RPG's. So my sword scales:
Str D
Dex D
Int E

My question is am I good only raising Str or Dex, or am I losing damage by not raising all 3?

I was and still confused with having to choose either the staff or spell as it says they go hand in hand. So I chose her staff. I figure you can get the spell someplace else?

Re: Elden Ring (From Software | Miyazaki | Martin | Feb 2022)

So, I'm a level 21 Samurai now. The game is really fun. Not incredibly hard unless you just go in guns blazing. Like past Souls games, even the lowliest skeleton can hurt you in numbers. I found that out the hard way. A few questions:

1. What's the best weapon for me at this point? The starting Katana? I upgraded it once and found a Long Sword and a Rapier that I upgraded, too. What the best armor?

2. As a Samurai, what stats should I work on? I have been doing vigor and strength. I am contemplating using points for some magic, too.

3. What's the best strategy for the first real boss? The one with the big hammer and sword? I can get him to 50% with a summoned cooperator and my wolves but then he just destroys me.

4. What in all that is holy is up with that jacked up roids bear that appeared out of nowhere after I killed a skeleton?

5. What's the best way to take down guys on horses? They own me. As do the guys with spears.

#5. Also be on a horse, unless there's just a massive level disparity between you and the guy on the horse.

And it doesn’t matter. The spear guy just decimates me every time. On a horse or not. Block with a weapon hurts and breaks stance. Block with shield doesn’t work. Rolling doesn’t work. Dodging doesn’t work.

I'm a Samurai and am still using the starting Uchi katana. I think I have it at +7 now. I have it at keen with the Bloody Slash. Throw some blood grease on there and it is nasty. Bloody Slash is incredibly powerful attack on bosses.

Go for Vigor and Dex initially. 30 on vigor if you want some survivability. Then you can start dumping into Endurance or maybe Arcane if you want to move from Keen to Bloody and focus on a blood build. Dex is most important though for Samurai. Don't forget about your bow and the Mighty Shot.

Heros Graves are frustrating as hell. Can't wait for a DLC announcement stating "A dozen new Hero's Graves to explore!" ooof

Re: Elden Ring (From Software | Miyazaki | Martin | Feb 2022)

I used bloody slash on my katana and got the blood grease that I can’t make because I need roots. But it’s a moot point because I still only get the boss to half health with a cooperator and my three wolves. He jumps once and slashes me and it’s game over. It’s not even close.

I really don’t know what to do.

Go explore elsewhere and level up for awhile. Then come back and try again. And get the jellyfish summon. She’s the best early game summon.

Go level up a bit more, like 75% of the map is available without starting those fights. Also, save the wolves for when he converts to psycho hammer mode.

Where is the jellyfish summon? I finally beat the boss. I upgraded my katana to +3 and used the Blood Slash.

Jellyfish are near the castle, just follow the wall around the outside of the entrance to the castle and you'll see a couple sets of jellyfish, one group has the ashes.

I can’t get past the fire ballistas in Stormveil castle. I just killed this big ass Lion by cheesing it.

EDIT: I literally ran and rolled through a dozen enemies and ballistas, dogs, and flamethrowers to the next Grace site. Then some guy named Godrick tore me a new asshole.

You aren't really supposed to go that way. You can, but remember how the guy that opened the gate for you suggested you get in the castle the other way instead? Yeah, that is the way you wanted to go. It is much more fun and much more reasonable. Then later, if you want to go to the main gate, you can come from the other direction and kill everyone from behind instead.

I read he tricks you to steal your runes so I killed him
But I did go in the back way.

I wasn’t able to get the jellyfish that way. There’s a woman at a shack near the Storm castle entrance that will give it to you if you talk to her enough. At some point she will move to Roundtable, and you’ll have to progress her storyline by talking to the smith and her back and forth. At that point you can get her to give you the jellyfish if you missed her at the shack. She also will offer summon upgrades.

I think I misremembered and you're correct. It was like 60 hours of gameplay ago

I just cheesed some fat God skin boss near volcano manor and I feel zero regrets about it. He wrecked me multiple times before.

You take the victories in this game any way that you can get them. It irritates me that enemies can attack you through walls, but yet your weapons clunk off them.
